The Great Fire

From the early days

The opening pages of the Colour of Magic features the Great Fire of Ankh-Morpork.
The fire was a result of Twoflower selling the owner of the Broken Drum, Broadman. He decided that the in-sewer-ans poly-sea payout was worth more than the Drum.
The subsequent fire resulted in Boardman meeting Death and most of the city burning down.

The second major fire celebrated here was caused by a dragon who had been summoned by the Unique and Supreme Lodge of the Elucidated Brethren of the Ebon Night.

An entry in Carrot's notebook:

Itym: Ae Coache House (belonging to an inoffensive businessman, who'd seen his new carriage go up in flames).
Itym: Ae smalle vegettable shope (with pin-point accuracy).

The stamp is twelfth lozenge stamp.

A little bit of trivia:

The first person to speak in a Discworld novel is Bravd the Hublander "There go all those little alleyways, I liked them."
and the first person named is Weasle "Bugger off, you're Bravd the Hublander, aren't you."
